What is covered by your health insurance?

The costs are covered by your health insurance, if you experience health problems that are caused by inadaquate nutrition or which need dietary interventions to treat you or to relieve your symptoms, for example for irritable bowel syndrome. For this, you will need a prescription.

With a body mass index at least 30 kg/m2

Cardiovascular diseases

Coronary artery disease, high blood pressure

Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract

Intolerances to food like lactoseintolerance, fructosemalabsorption, histamine intolerance

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

Fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and inflammation of the liver (NASH)

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD): Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis

Coeliac disease

Problems after surgery, f. e. with adhesions

Gastric acid reflux disease

Kidney diseases

Insufficiency, kidney stones, kidney dialysis

Malnutrition & underweight

Specific nutrient deficiencies

Underweight, involuntary weight loss

Eating disorders like anorexia & bulimia

Food allergies

Nut allergy, cross allergy


The costs for the consultations are according to an agreement between the Schweizerischer Verband diplomierter Ernährungsberaterinnen (SVDE) und Santésuisse. You will be provided with further information during the first appointment and you can find more information under downloads.

Please, note that consultations that are not cancelled at least 48 hours prior to the appointment will be charged fully. These costs are not covered by the health insurance.
